Why Do I Use Copper?

I have to admit, when it comes to Wiccan and metaphysical jewelry, I’m in the minority using copper.  Most jewelry you find today is made of silver or pewter.  If this is so common, then why do I use copper?

Copper has been used since ancient times as a conductor of energy.  In ancient times the belief was it could conduct spiritual energy back and forth between individuals, crystals, the astral planes, and the spiritual world.  It acted as an amplifier when sending or receiving psychic energy.

We know today that copper is indeed a great conductor of energy…electricity. With its exceptional current carrying capacity, copper is more efficient than any other electrical conductor. Because of its superior conductivity, annealed copper is the international standard to which all other electrical conductors are compared.  With this impressive conducting ability, is it any wonder that the thought has been since ancient times, that it is also a great conductor of psychic energy?

When used with stones, copper becomes even more powerful.  It is thought that when energy flows through copper wire surrounded by stones (as in most of my jewelry), it helps align the stone’s individual energy field and amplify it. So if you run your personal energy through it, and think of my bracelets, they are in a circle with a copper clasp in a copper loop creating a circuit, it can build up psychic energy and pull the individual properties from the stones so the wearer can use it.  Think of it as charging a battery of psychic energy you can wear on your wrist.

I have been wearing copper bracelets since I was a teen.  I had a large solid copper bracelet my Grandmother gave me when I was 10 I wore until I wore it out.  I tend to wear copper on my wrists when doing any kind of psychic work, and have copper wire as a conductor on my wand.
