I’m glad it is finally cooling off!

Day To Day Life, Wiccan Craft Items No Comments »

There are certian things, like my altar sets for instance, that I have to create in my garage.  Although I have a swamp cooler cooling it, it isn’t insulated so I can’t really work much out there in the summer.  But it is FINALLY cooling off, so today I started pouring altar sets again, so I can get them listed up.  I sold all but one set, and a few peices, so I need to get some made.

I also opened my Wiccan Magick Shack Etsy Store back up after a few month heitis. I got frustrated on the lack of sales, but we are planning on doing more very hand crafted items, and I know the market for them is greater at ETSY then at Ebay.  For instance, my husband is working on some hand painted old-school tattoo inspired hats that are going to be cool, and hand painted shoes.  Plus I’ll be making some jewelry, as soon as I get all the bits in the mail which I can’t wait to release. :)

Having fun creating more incense

Wiccan Craft Items No Comments »

My husband and I worked on grinding up the ingredients to our next incense blend, banishing negativity, and we decided to make some self igniting incense. We divided the batch in half, keeping half for the type you burn on a charcoal tablet. Then we mixed it with 10% of a chemical (I’m leaving this unnamed as I don’t want someone to get hurt if they don’t know what they are doing). We tried to light it and it didn’t burn.

Unfortunately, I missed the page before and the 7 other ingredients you had to put in it, lol. Before I found that though, we upped that one ingredient from 10% to 20% and found out it created an incense that as it came close to burning out on a charcoal tab, suddenly flared into a 3″ flame with sparks.

So, we are keeping that 1/2 of the batch to ourselves. :) I just showed what it did to my brother yesterday when he was visiting, and he said the smell reminded him of his days in college when they burned church incense. He had a lot of pleasant memories of that. (He attended collage at a music/religious university)

It doesn’t surprise me that it smells similar, as I could see a church using some of the ingredients to try and banish what they perceived as negativity (or evil) from their ritual space (the church). I do know that burning it in our house, along with filling it up with a lot of smoke, has made the air feel lighter and more positive.

Although my husband and I do get a bit negative at times (our income has dropped quite a bit in this economy) we have a lot of confidence in our higher powers to pull us through and to be more successful coming out the other side. I know the Goddess and God are with us during the rough times, peanut butter sandwiches, and lack of being able to do anything like go out to eat, or watch TV. (we discontinued Direct TV to save money). And she is also inspiring us in our products to sell to other Wiccans to help our income to grow.

So look for our new incense in a few days. We have slowed down this week in getting new products up with enjoying visiting with my brother, but next week we will be back in full swing.

Can’t wait for the molds to finish curing :)

Wiccan Craft Items No Comments »

My husband, who is a really good sculptor,  created a candle holder for taper candles, a cauldron  for burning incense, and a salt holder out of clay.  We poured the rubber yesterday, to make molds for all three items, and they molds should be cured by this afternoon.  Then the fun begins, we can start pouring them, and making the items.  Then each one will be hand finished and painted.

I plan on having candle holders and candle sets for the four directions, and two for the altar candles.  This first cauldron has the triple moon symbol on the side and is very cool looking.  My husband is an airbrush artist too, so you can be sure each one will be unique, and a work of art.  I can’t wait to get them listed up.  This is his first item that he will be crafting start to finish for me, so I’m hoping they sell well for him.

Most of the candle holders I’ve seen for taper candles for the directions are kinda cool, like stars and stuff, but lets face it, those types of candles drip and since I do rituals indoors, I’d end up with a carpet covered in candle wax.

So he designed a candle holder that has a reservoir that will hold the wax for you.  It wouldn’t hold an entire candle’s worth, but it would definitely hold a few hours worth to get you through any rituals and ceremonies.    Stay tuned for the posting. :)
