Happy Thanksgiving Everyone

Day To Day Life No Comments »

Today is a day to say Thanks to the Goddess and God for all of the blessings in your life.  Spend times with friend and family.  And try not to get too stuffed on food. :)

I have many, many things to be thankful for, but these are at the top of my list.

  1. A loving husband who supports me, has a great sense of humor, is sexy, and is my best friend.
  2. The unconditional love of two cats, and being a hero for a tribe of feral cats we feed on our porch.
  3. Several friends that I would trust with my life.  I feel you are blessed with one, and in addition to my husband I have three, which makes me triply blessed.
  4. A brother and sister that I love very much.
  5. A son that walks my path, and has found happiness with a girlfriend.
  6. A comfortable home that is warm and safe.
  7. Plenty to eat.
  8. Clothes on my back.
  9. Good health.  Going through a few tests, but even those are for things that are correctable thankfully!
  10. That I found the Wiccan path to walk.  I never fit quite in with any other path, and I’m glad to find where I belong.
  11. For being sober today and continually for the last 8 1/2 years.
  12. To be able to spend Thanksgiving with a group of friends.
  13. And finally for all the wonderful people I’ve met online.  For the laughs until I cry, for the wonderful sayings, tips, tricks and help that I’ve found over the years.  Thanks everyone!

Have a happy Thanksgiving everyone!  And don’t forget to take some time to really think about all you are thankful for today.

Finally starting to feel human again

Day To Day Life No Comments »

I think it is appropriate after a rant on health care to admit I’ve been sick for a week with a cold/flu.  Only reason I call it flu is the first few days I ran a pretty high fever (for me) and that isn’t something I normally get with a cold.

Although I’m still sniffling, I feel a LOT better, and yesterday I put in a full day’s work at my desk trying to catch up my sites.  Today, I hope to get some crafting done, and tomorrow I have to go into Vegas to work a convention.

Although I am lucky enough to have health care, with my 5k deductible, I couldn’t afford to go to the Dr. if my cold had been worse than it was.  Isn’t that a sad state of affairs?  And after reading stories on Obama’s Healthcare site, I see I’m not alone in this.

So I’m fortunate for sites like WebMD that I can research.  Extensive knowledge from past colds what helped me, and the ability to stay home and rest up to get over my illness.  Lots of ginger tea with honey and lemon.  Vitamin C tablets.   Benydril for the non-stop sneezing and runny nose, and a few doses of cough syrup when the cough got so bad I couldn’t stand it. (I really, really, REALLY hate the taste of cough syrup).

The number one biggie though is the ability to stay home and rest.  I’ve only had that luxury the last 8 years since I’ve been completely self employed.  I remember one year I had full on pneumonia, and I was able to take only 1/2 day off work to see the dr, and worked for 6 weeks with it 7 days a week during audit season for a CPA.  I’ve had so many times in my life where I had to work no matter how sick I was, because If I missed so much as a single day of work, I couldn’t pay my bills.

I thank the Goddess every day that I get to work out of my home.  I have some part-time work I have to go into Vegas for, but even that is nice because it gets me out and around people a few times a month.  I am truly blessed and don’t take for granted this wonderful gift she has given me.   And after this past week, I realize I’m doubly blessed.

Full moon ritual was awesome

Full Moon Rituals No Comments »

My full moon ritual was awesome last night.  For whatever reason (mainly weather) I haven’t performed an outdoor ritual in a long time, so last night, given the weather was mild, I held my ritual outdoors.  I chose a corner in the back of my yard (which has a privacy fence) for privacy, and scribed in the gravel (yes, its the desert, we have a lot of rocks in our yard) a 12′ circle to give me more room to move around.  The normal table I use for an alter is a bit rickety, so I used a 4′ fold-out table for my altar, and placed all my tools on it before sundown, so I could see better.

Shortly after the moon rose, I began my ritual.  It was cloudy, and the moon played peek-a-boo with the clouds. It was still a bit windy, so I couldn’t get my directional candles to stay lit, but was able to get 2 small candles that were in glass jars lit on my altar to help me see my BOS.

I conducted a ritual where I spoke with Aule the smith, and asked his blessing and empowerment on all my rune stones, then one set at a time, cleansed them with salted water, and sage to cleanse them with all four elements.

When I finally finished with that, and wanted to do my prosperity and protection of my property part of the ritual, the moon burst out from behind the clouds.  It was an awesome sight, and I was able to look up at the moon and tell the Goddess my desires.  So much better than performing in my cramped little office!

When I was finished, I took a large couldron full of empowered salted spring water, my sage, and got my husband, and we walked our entire property border, concentrating on keeping anyone wishing to do us harm out of our property, and inviting happiness, prosperity, and good health into our property.  I sprinkled the salted water, and he used the sage wand.  We have an acre, so it took us awhile to do it…something I’ve been meaning to do for awhile.

We have had break-ins three streets over from our house, and we wanted to create a barrior that no one that wished us harm could cross.  I’ve done this countless times in my home, but this was the first time we’ve done it on the border of our property.

Both of us were pretty tired today…I have a feeling we both expended a lot of personal power during the ritual.  But more than that, we felt an overwhelming feeling of peace in our home.  I remember reading a book by Ellen Dugan saying that you could always tell a witches home.  Not so much by the decorations, but by the good feeling you get walking in the door.  We’ve had that for awhile, but it has been greatly magnified since yesterday.

And prosperity! Our income from our business is on an upward track.  If it continues, we will have our best month ever.  Stay tuned on that one. :)
